It takes a village

8 Million Stories seeks to partner with individuals, businesses, organizations, and universities. We are especially interested in potential mentors, tutors, employers willing to hire our students, mental health providers, and funders.

Support has included both capital and programmatic support, and has helped to provide Eight Million Stories with the resources, equipment, and unique programming and curricular development necessary to realize its mission for Houston’s most vulnerable youth.

Support for Eight Million Stories has come from public sources at the local level, as well as private corporations, foundations, and individual donors.

Thank you to our partners

Houston Texans

Inspire Change is the NFL’s initiative focused on the work that players, clubs, and the league are doing to address social justice issues in America.

In March 2019, The Houston Texans Foundation announced the creation of the Houston Texans Social Justice Fund to assist nonprofits in the greater Houston area which support youth and provide legal services for underprivileged citizens. We are proud to be a 2019 recipient of these grants alongside amazing organizations including the YMCA, Restoring Justice, and the Houston Police Department.

The Houston Texans have also provided amazing experiences for our students including a shopping spree with Deandre Hopkins, donations of a new passenger van, and highlighted 8 Million Stories in the 2020 My Cause, My Cleats auction. We can not thank the Houston Texans enough for their continuous support!

Houston Endowment

The Houston Endowment has announced grants totaling $20 million in support of local organizations working to advance racial equity and social justice.

Grants were awarded in the areas of anti-Black racism and systemic injustice; policy and advocacy; strong communities; art, culture, and history; education; and strong families and children.

8 Million Stories was humbled, honored, and eternally grateful to be a recipient of Houston Endowment’s social justice initiative, among other noble organizations.

EDLOC

EdLoC is a nationwide membership group bringing together Black and Latino education experts to raise our voices and impact educational reform efforts.

Ending generational poverty, establishing sustainable change and improving schools for all children, developing numerous solutions, and moving beyond education are among their Third Way Values.
EdLoC's commitment to supporting their members' innovative non-profit enterprises through a grant named The Boulder Fund exemplifies these principles.

The Boulder Fund is a multi-million dollar grant program to support the innovations of leaders of color in education. The fourth cohort of eight leaders of color from across the country has been awarded a total of $800,000 to support the launch or expansion of creative solutions to some of the most pressing issues in the field.

AT&T

AT&T’s Believe Houston Initiative was created to empower opportunity youth within Houston’s Complete Communities.

As part of this commitment, Believe Houston has committed to hosting quarterly panels on professionalism and interview tips as well as job shadowing opportunities for the youth of 8 Million stories.

The first event was held on Wednesday, January 27th 2021 at the AT&T Bellaire Headquarters location, and was an unforgettable and priceless experience for our students. We are thankful and excited to continue receiving support from AT&T’s Believe Houston!
